As a principal, I heard about DeepBlue and the difference they are making in area schools. I decided to contact them regarding a series of staff development days for our teachers. We decided to focus on four hot topics at our school:

ADHD/Asperger's Syndrome/Autism/ and Other Learning Disabilities
Diet, Exercise, and Nutrition and their Impact on Learning
Preventing High-Risk Behavior in Middle School Students
Individual Learning Styles and their Impact on Effective Classroom Instruction

The presentations at our school not only met our expectations, but exceeded them. It was simple. Teachers submitted questions about the topics we chosefor our staff development day to the DeepBlue Team ahead of time. The DeepBlue team not only answered all of the questions we submitted, but presented the latest research on each of these topics. They involved the teachers in hands-on activities that we coudn't wait to initiate in the classroom and even involved the teachers in an interactive project that ensured awareness and implementation of the ideas that were presented. As Region 1 Lead for After School and Health Start Programs, I provide training and technical assistance for after school programs and family resource centers. I have the opportunity to contract with and observe many trainers in my work. I am glad that I contracted DeepBlue to give two presentations at my 3-day conference in January. The presentations: High Risk Behaviors-Prevention and Intervention and Motivation for Success-Visioning with Kids were both excellent.

We recently invited Dr. Paula Grayson, as part of the DeepBlue Team, to speak at our After School Health Summit that served over 150 statewide after school program staff. Dr. Grayson held a workshop, The Impact of Diet, Exercise and Nutrition on Learning, for approximately 65 people. This influential workshop gave after school coordinators the opportunity to learn about the latest research with respect to these topics. More importantly our program staff had the opportunity to interact with practicing pediatrician and gain inside from a professional at this level. Read more
